It's been a while...

  • It sure has been a while since I've posted here on the Chopaderos forum. Had a lot of personal stuff that needed to be sorted.
A couple of weeks ago, I had to overhaul my every-day bicycle. It has been standing outside in the weather for to long.
Had to replace the handlebar and seat. All I had in my shed to use where a banana seat and an old mountainbike handlebar.
I've used two 22mm pipes to support the banana seat. The front carrier had to be ajusted so it fits on the handlebar.

The fenders and chainguard are removed. I haven't decided what to do with them. The plan is to turn it into a survival bike. Adding all kinds of bags and lights. Maybe a skin rug over the seat.
I haven't ridden it in the rain yet, but I think I only need a rear fender that goes from the seatstay and chainstay. The banana seat will do the rest. For the front fender I'm thinking about using one of those mountainbike mudguards that goes on the downtube.

  • Thanks for the replies.
I've got a question. The two pipes that support the banana seat are mounted on the inside of the seat with one M8 threaded rod and bolts.
The bottom end of the pipes are mounted on the rear hub. Would that be sufficient or should I strengthen the pipes with a crossbar right above the rear wheel?
It stays put right now, but I don't know if it could twist to the side and break.
